By now, anyone who has been following Apple and the new iPhone 4 should know about the reception issues that many users are reporting for the device. Although Apple has released has a press release that said this problem is caused by a miscalculation of the number of bars the device has (therefore, they are claiming that it is a software issue), Consumer Reports has news that says otherwise.

According to Consumer Reports testing,

When your finger or hand touches a spot on the phone’s lower left side—an easy thing, especially for lefties—the signal can significantly degrade enough to cause you to lose your connection altogether if you’re in an area with a weak signal.

Consumer Reports and the general public, right now, as it seems, are not recommending the iPhone 4 because of this problem. Their advice? Stick with the 3GS. This issue has nothing to do with software, so it’s up to Apple to see what they’ll do next.
