Analyst Mike Abramsky from RBC’s Capital Market told investors that Apple will keep the iPhone 3GS on the market for a third year and will make it free with a two-year contract. This goes along with Tim Cook’s statement on wanting to make the iPhone not only for the rich. This could also make sense if Apple were to follow the rumors and create a high-end iPhone 5, along with a cheaper iPhone 4S. Then the 3GS could be the lowest tier available. Surveys show that 14% of people said they were likely to buy a free iPhone 3GS, beating the results for buying the first-generation iPad (%13) and the first iPhone (9%). Would you get a free 3GS over an iPhone 5 or 4S? Let us know in the comments.
