The App Store has been a huge success for iOS. Apps are the focus of the platform, and the reason people by the devices, and Apple generates revenue. The numbers easily beat out any other operating systems for the number of compatible apps. The App Store currently has over 500,000 apps available for download right on your iOS device. Recently, apps optimized for iPad have hit 100,000, after only 453 days, when it started with about 1000. The apps for iPhone and iPod Touch were already compatible with the iPad in a scaled-up version, but the iPad now has 100,000 of its own that fill the whole screen, and are optimized for a tablet interface. Apple is way ahead of the game, beating Android tablets that only have 1300 apps.
