Puffin is the new Skyfire
Last year, we announced Skyfire, an application that would convert flash files, such as movies, into a playable format for iOS devices, which, as we all know, simply refuse to support flash. The app was quite good, and converted most of the files well (although sometimes, it would take a while.) Now, we’re here to introduce another, cheaper alternative to Skyfire, which works for both iPad and iPhone: Puffin.
Puffin is a universal app that performs similarly to Skyfire. From tests, the app works great with flash content, displaying even the most flash-heavy sites almost perfectly. The interface, from the screenshots, is really well designed, with tabbed browsing added on the iPad as well. One drawback is that cut and paste isn’t supported, but the developers claim that it will be added in a future update.
From our impressions, this is an alternative to Skyfire worth checking out. Whereas getting Skyfire for iPad and iPhone would cost $8, you can get the universal Puffin app for 99 cents. Download links for both flash browsers are above.
