Yesterday, we wrote an article on “Flash Video Expose”, an app that had claimed to enable all flash content for iOS devices. For awhile, this app sparked a bit of interest amongst the Apple community, but was unfortunately deemed as a fake- upsetting hundreds of buyers.

The fake $9.99 app had somehow gotten past the App store approval team, and the developers had bought reviews to earn their “100%” approval rating. And to this date, the App still has not been taken off of the App store yet. This certainly raises up a lot of questions about Apple’s app system, and the “fake” app business in general.

First off all, the fact that Apple’s app approval team approved this app made me wonder about Apple’s process.  How did such a blatantly fake App get by the team at all? Had anyone even tried to use the App once, they would have found out that it was a fake, so does this mean that Apple’s process doesn’t even include a test run? Then again, mistakes happen, so it might not have been their fault.

One thing that does anger me though, is the fact that Apple has not taken the fraudulent App off of the App store, nor has Apple sought to give out refunds to the people who fell for the trick. To me, this represents poor awareness by Apple and I hope they fix that problem immediately.

As for the act of buying fake reviews, there’s really nothing anyone can do about that. Just make sure next time when buying an app that you read the description to make sure that it doesn’t make any incredible claims. Flash Video Expose claimed that it could play videos with “no wait time”- a claim that is really just stupid when you pay attention. Also, you can check out the online community to see if anyone has anything to say about the app.

Anyways, once again, if you truly want to play flash video, we recommend Puffin or Skyfire- Apps that actually work.

I found another game called “Mooncraft mine” which is also blatantly fraudulent in what it promises the buyer. I’m sure that the Apple screening process doesn’t even really take place.

I bought it today, how depressing =(
