Sometime a week ago, it was reported that Apple had started testing a 4G LTE iPhone with carriers, and the evidence came from an internal iOS test build that contained a certain .plist (property list file) believed to be for LTE.

BGR thinks that the inclusion of this file means that Apple has already started testing of LTE.

For those who don’t know, LTE is basically a term used to describe the nex-gen broadband network that is supposed to be quite a bit faster than the current 3G network.

Actually, lately there has been a lot of LTE related news floating around.

For example, Forbes reported last week that Apple was looking for more LTE experienced engineers, and Engadget reported about an Apple retail store that was apparently outfitted with 4G LTE equipment.

However, even with all these rumors floating around, it still seems unlikely that Apple will release the iPhone 5 with 4G LTE straight off the bat. The rumor that Apple is testing it though, is credible. We may have to wait for a while before we can finally see an LTE iPhone.
