Here’s some big news for international fans of Apple; according to the company, five new Apple Stores are expected to open in various places in the world this Saturday, including a store in Alaska, the first. The store, located in Anchorage, will open at 10 A.M. Interestingly, there are still seven states in the United States that do not yet have Apple Stores in them (Arkansas, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming) according to 9to5Mac.

Earlier today, Apple released its “Lion Recovery Disk Assistant”, which provides an enormously useful feature for Lion OS X Users by allowing them to create a Lion recovery partition on either a USB or external hard drive. This means that users will no longer need a physical disk to repair or reinstall Lion.

Just recently today, Skype version 5.3 was released to Mac. The new update features a bunch of nice new upgrades that are sure to have Skype fans raving.

Skype 5.3 brings a plethora of brand new tools including full OS X Lion support as well as HD Video Calling.

OS X Lion support was always to be expected, so that upgrade doesn’t bring much of a surprise – although it is quite nice. With this update, Skype will be supported for every version of Mac going all the way back to Leopard.

The main difference is that it has lower specs than the new iMacs, and a cheaper price point to accommodate bulk buyers for school resources. When iOS 5 Beta first came out for developers, fans everywhere were already eager for news on new features. Hopefully, they won’t be disappointed as new reports show that Apple has definitely been working on a brand-new speech recognition interface.

As you can see in the picture, a microphone button has appeared right next to the space button on the standard iOS text keyboard. Apparently, once you tap this button, a microphone speech screen will appear that will allow you to then start speaking.

Just recently today, Apple opened its MobileMe.com/move url, which allows developers to migrate all of their data from their MobileMe accounts to iCloud. Of course, non-developers do not yet have usage.

As Apple approaches its transition from MobileMe to iCloud, we’ve all been wondering what will happen to existing MobileMe accounts.

That question has been answered though, as Apple just recently revealed its plans for the transition accounts.

Apparently, Apple has promised that it will keep transitioning accounts active until June 30, 2012. Until then, MobileMe will still retain most of its functions. However, for some time it was confused as to how storage would be transitioned.
