Apple has just taken its position at the top of the smartphone vendor world, taking Nokia off its throne when the company saw a sharp decrease in shipments in the second quarter of 2011. The company was behind in shipments by 5.5 million in the first quarter, but turned this around into a 3.6 million unit lead.

It may surprise you that according to a recent report from Strategy Analytics, the iPad may not be as popular as the people in America think it is. The data from the two tables above was compiled from the report and show a significant decrease in market share for the iPad in the second quarter of 2011, compared to market share in the second quarter of 2010, which was almost 95%. Originally a song-recognition app like Shazam, Sound Hound has since added a new live-lyrics feature in its 4.0 update. Released today, this new update adds the lyrics feature to both the ad-supported free version of Sound Hound, as well as the $7 Sound Hound infinity version. Both versions will have unlimited use of LiveLyrics, so don’t worry about limited use issues.

Apparently, Apple has outgrown its current campus in Cupertino, as the company has just leased a nine building campus that could potentially fit 1300 employees. The campus is currently known as the Results Way Corporate Center and is located at 5 Results Way Cupertino, CA.

Did you think that the new Macbook Air and Mac minis were the only things that Apple added a Thunderbolt port to? Well, apparently Apple has also decided that its 27-inch display needed a bit of lightning also.

Well, as rumored, right after today’s OS X Lion launch, Apple also came out with its updated version of the Macbook Air. The new Macbook Air features a variety of updated hardware, including the return of the popular backlit keyboard, a faster CPU, and the new Thunderbolt Port.

The latest and greatest mockups of legit tech products all come from China, as do fake $1 “Nike” shirts. China is at the top of the world in this aspect. With the release of Lion today, probably one of the biggest concerns that people have is the compatibility of their Leopard or Snow Leopard apps on the new operating system (I know that’s one of the biggest reasons I won’t be upgrading any time soon, but other members of our team will have tips and tutorials for Lion.) Helpfully, Adobe, the company behind some of the most popular applications in the world, has come up with a list of known issues for their various products while running on OS X 10.7 Lion.
