The Apple TV is currently being modded by two developers: TheMudKip and Steven Troughton-Smith, who are working together to bring iOS application functionality to the Apple TV, as demonstrated in the video above. So far, the two developers have been successful in running applications on the Apple TV, as demonstrated with the calculator app, Safari, and more. Additionally, apps can also run side by side on the larger TV screen the Apple TV utilizes.

Listen up, those of you residing in Canada, Australia, or the UK who own an Apple TV. An over-the-air update to these devices is now available for download, and will allow Apple TV users in these countries to download episodes of TV shows, which previously was not an offered feature. Episodes cost anywhere from $0.00 to $2.49, which is reasonably priced in my opinion. Previously, TV shows were only available through iTunes in these countries.

Apple has recently been observed to have discontinued its old 99 cent TV show rental system that was part of iTunes and Apple TV.
The company has already shut down access to the rentals, and the Apple TV page has even stopped mentioning the option to rent TV Shows.
