While browsing the App Store this morning, I picked up on a new app that caught my eye. The game, called Empire War, hit the App Store just today, and claimed to be a real-time strategy game “performed by having a huge war between mankind and chaos.” Recently, I discovered the joy of playing Rome: Total War Gold Edition on my Macbook Pro, and so obviously, “real-time strategy” was compelling. Truth be told, there aren’t very many RTS games for the iOS platform, unless you count tower defense (which is almost cliched.) The game, priced at $2.99, has six hero characters and fourteen different types of units. Of course, I don’t expect it to be as good as Rome: Total War, the very fact that the iPhone screen size is so small hinders the management of your units.

We have no reason to believe that this app will be rejected, so based on preceding approval times, we can expect that the game should be out within a week, maybe a little more. I won’t be surprised if this title ends up putting you down twenty bucks or something outrageously priced like that for an iOS title. Indeed, Square Enix publishes some of the most expensive games on the App Store.
