Xcode 4.1 was released last month alongside OS X Lion in the Mac App Store. Now Apple has released an update for a bug fix as version 4.1.1. In 4.1, Xcode’s installation required quitting iTunes, but the dialog box wouldn’t go away even after completely stopping iTunes. Apple released a support documents saying to quit the iTunesHelper process using Activity Monitor.

Prior to Xcode 4, all downloads of the software development kit were offered for free on Apple’s website, but with the release of Xcode on the Mac App Store, Apple bumped the price up to $4.99 to those who were not registered as Apple developers (luckily, we at iTracki were, so the price increase didn’t matter to us.) However, with the release of Lion, Apple has once again decided to offer Xcode (now version 4.1) for free, for your software development pleasure. This is sure to piss off those who actually spent 5 bucks on the software, but for the rest of you, hey, who doesn’t like freebies?
