iOS Review: 7 Second Arcade
This review is written in thanks to butterbean21 on TouchArcade.com! Thanks for the free promo code for me to test out this app!
7 Second Arcade is a great arcade game, it’s like WarioWare for the iPhone. The rules are very simple: Complete whatever task you are given in the span of 7 seconds. You have three strikes. If you fail more than 3 times, the game ends. Simple, right? Wrong! There’s tapping, shaking, tilting, and in every other way implementing all the features of your iDevice in this great game. Definitely one of the best arcade games available on the AppStore. Get it today, only $1.99!! The game starts out easy, with some basic shooting, tapping, etc, but quickly gains difficulty, getting you hooked instantly!! You’ll definitely want to play it over and over again!!
Ratings (Out of 5):
Graphics: 5
Gameplay: 5
Game Controls: 5
Replay Value: 5
Overall Rating: 5/5
Graphics:
The graphics in this game are excellent. I really like the style, the cartoony look gives you a great feeling when playing this game. Additionally, the graphics flow very smoothly, and I have not experienced any lagging yet, as I do with some other games that I have tried. I was thinking, however, maybe you could make the instructions (Jump! Avoid! Shoot! or whatever) really jump out, filling up the whole screen then shifting and minimizing to the middle top. That would make the instructions a lot more clear, plus make the game look cooler in general.
Overall, the graphics are very nice and easy to play with, I give it a 5/5 stars.
Gameplay:
The gameplay for this game is excellent. It takes a classic idea from WarioWare, and gives it a great implementation into the iPhone and iPod Touch. However, I would suggest that you give us a few seconds to prepare (after beating a level, maybe give us a “reprieve” screen by saying “3, 2, 1 GO! or something like that) before we go on to the next level. The gameplay is fun and unique, I have never played a game like this before on my iTouch. There are many different aspects to the game, see screenshots at the very bottom for some examples. You must be very prepared, because you never know what the next level of the game will bring you. I really enjoy the concept, plus a great implementation. 5/5 stars.
Game Controls:
The game controls are what makes the app really cool. You never know how to control the game, whether it’s tilting, touching, tapping, sliding, or whatever, you’ll only have 7 SECONDS to figure it out. A bit of a challenge, but it adds creativity and makes your mind think in new ways. The controls are responsive and easy to use, nothing too confusing for me so far. Again, great implementation of the WarioWare idea. 5/5 stars, AGAIN. Are you seeing a pattern?
Replay Value:
This game is VERY, VERY, addicting. I always tell myself, “okay, last time, okay, last time” but yet I never stop playing it. Since I got my free promo code, I have played this app for AT LEAST two hours. Great game, especially for an arcade game, which are usually just a “play and go.” I got the play part down fine, I just can’t get the “go.” I am simply addicted, and just can’t stop. Great replay value, you definitely have me hooked!!
Summing It Up:
This is one of the best arcade games for the iPhone and iPod Touch, with a classic style but a new game. It combines both the pleasure of arcade games with a new twist, giving you only 7 seconds to complete each level. Thanks for the free promo code, this is perhaps the BEST app that I’ve gotten for free. Thanks a ton, devs! Hope you enjoy my review!
