iOS Tutorial: Add Home Screen Shortcuts to Websites
Editor’s Note: This tutorial was written and demonstrated for iOS 4.
If you’ve ever used a Windows computer, you might remember how you could create a desktop shortcut to a certain website (I’ve used my wonderful Macbook Pro now for about two years, so the days with Windows seem a bit vague to me now.) You may not have known that this feature is also built into iOS, with the default Safari browser. Here’s how to add home screen shortcuts to websites for quick access.
Follow the instructions based on the screenshots above to add home screen shortcuts to websites (click on a screenshot to enalarge.) First, access Safari and press the bottom middle button, bringing up a screen that should have a button that reads “Add to Home Screen.” Tap this button, choose your “app” name, and press the “Add” button at the top right hand corner. The app should then appear in your home screen.
That’s it!
