iOS Tutorial: Clock App As a Sleep Timer For Your Music
The built-in clock app on your iOS device comes with a trick up its sleeve that you may not know about, and may also come in pretty useful. Aside from checking the world time, using the stopwatch feature, etc, you can also use the clock app to stop your music at a specific time, so it acts as a sort of “sleep timer,” so your music can help you fall asleep but doesn’t play throughout the night. Kudos to MacWorld for discovering this neat trick:
If you want to fall asleep to the musical strains of your iPhone, launch the Clock app and tap on the Timer tab. Underneath the dials for setting the hours and minutes for your timer to run, tap on the When Timer Ends button. Normally, you’d use that control to choose which of the iPhone’s many sounds should ring out when your timer reaches zero. But scroll past all the sound effects, and you’ll find one option sitting by its lonesome: Stop Playing.
So now you can start your music before going to bed, set the amount of time for it to play, and have it stop even if you’re already asleep. All without purchasing a third party app.
