Editor’s Note: This tutorial was written and demonstrated for iOS 4.

Deleting photos one by one is a hassle and nobody wants to waste that time especially if your iDevice contains hundreds of photos. Luckily, Apple graciously included the ability to delete multiple photos in one go. It’s really quite simple and if you don’t already know how to do it, the pictures will help.

You’ll want to start out by accessing your camera roll. This can be done either one of two ways: by tapping the default Photo app or by tapping the bottom-left square in the default camera app.

Then tap the icon in the top right corner of the screen. It is an arrow coming out of a rectangle.

Now, all you have to do is select each photo you want to delete by tapping it once. When you have finished selecting all the photos, simply press the red delete button located in the lower right of the screen.

That’s it!

    This is not helpful.
This is not mass delete, it’s one by one.
You used to be able to select all or many at a time for an actual mass delete

This was certainly better than what I was doing before. THX!

Actual solution to problem :- Plug into Mac. Run Image Capture. Select all photos. Hit delete.
