iOS Tutorial: Remove Apps From Multitasking Bar
Note: This tutorial only works for multitasking-enabled devices. Multitasking was released with iOS 4.
With the introduction of multitasking in iOS 4, Apple devices such as the iPhone and iPod Touch could now switch quickly between different apps, leaving them running in the background while another app was currently in use. However, a flaw of multitasking is present on devices with limited RAM, with background tasks lagging and freezing up the device. Here’s a tip on how to remove apps from the multitasking bar (accessed by double-clicking the home button) and thus remove these processes and free up memory.
To remove an app from the multitasking bar, just bring it up and tap and hold any of the icons on the bar. The icons will start wiggling, just like when you’re deleting apps from your device. just hit the (-) button in the corner and the app(s) you selected will be removed from the bar. Don’t worry, they won’t be deleted from your device!
That’s it!
