Editor’s Note: This tutorial was demonstrated on iOS 4.

Sometimes, it is necessary to remove all the content from your iDevice. This may be for a variety of reasons, and will clear up just about 90% of everything on your iPod, somewhere around there, depending on how big your iPod is. Keep in mind that the software that is needed to run the iPod still must be installed and that takes up a couple hundred megabytes. Other than that, you should have nothing on it.

To remove all content straight from the device, navigate to the settings app, go to general, and at the very bottom tap “Reset.” “Reset All Settings” will completely reset your device, and there are other things that you can also reset. This works for iPad, iPod Touch, and iPhone.
