Jailbreak Tutorial: SSH into your iDevice in Windows
SSHing into your iPhone/iTouch allows you to manage all the files and content that you have on your device directly from your computer. Please note that this will only work with jailbroken devices. For how to jailbreak, you can see my other tutorial here. This is one of the most popular features of jailbreaking, as you can completely manage your iDevice, instead of just the limited features that iTuens gives you. Here are the steps to SSHing.
This can be done with wifi connection, so no cord needed.
What you need:
-Jailbroken iTouch/iPhone
-OpenSSH (available in Cydia/Rock)
-Winscp (available here)
-SBsettings (available in Cydia)
Step 1:
Download all of the software that is listed above.
Step 2:
Go to Winscp, and click the “New” button on the right.
Step 3:
For Hostname, it’s the IP Address of your iDevice, which can be found with SBsettings. To do this, slide your finger across the top of the screen of Your iDevice, and a drop menu will pop up, the IP will be there, “Wi-Fi IP adress: XXX.XXX.X.XXX) put the numbers there into the host name.
In Winscp, the information you should input is:
Username: root
Password: alpine
Step 4 (optional but strongly recommended):
Go to Rock, and it will ask you if you want to change your SSH password, DO IT!
If you have any further questions, please post in the comment section below. I will usually reply within a day or two.
