According to various sources citing an article from the Wall Street Journal, Apple recently cut its order for iPhone 5 parts by 50%. We aren’t exactly sure why, but it could be to adjust for the new 6 month cycle of releasing new devices that Apple has been going by recently, as opposed to the company’s old habit of releasing new products once a year. However, some investors felt that this could be due to weak demand for the latest generation iPhone, and just briefly, the company’s stock dipped below the $500 mark.

Amidst all of the other announcements this week, including rumors of a new iPhone in the works, iPhone5Mod released a mod for iPhone 5 owners, allowing them to replace the traditional back and side covers of their iPhone with translucent ones instead. According to an article recently posted by DigiTimes, Apple may be working on a larger but cheaper iPhone to target emerging markets through the world such as China. In countries where people may not be wealthy enough to afford a “standard” iPhone, this device would be a viable alternative. DigiTimes apparently got its information from “supply-chain sources.”
