According to a report by IDG News, computer manufacturers Acer and Asus have announced that they will follow Apple in adopting the Thunderbolt connectivity standard beginning next year.

Thunderbolt was originally developed with a collaborative effort by Apple and Intel, and so far Apple has been the only manufacturer with support for the port – including it in every single new Mac, with the exception of the Macbook Pro since an upgrade has not come yet.

According to research firm NPD, Mac sales rose 22% for the third quarter when compared to last year – which is 6% higher than Wall Street analysts predicted growth to be.

Apple has recently launched a new charity program, claiming that it will match any donation made to charity by its employees.
